A Break From Fashion

These images are created by artist Steve Powers.  I thought they were fun and quirky and I particularly liked the quotes.  Stay tuned for more artwork I love!

Conveying The Mood

Above is a mood board I put together for this collection.  It provides inspiration, mood, and muse.  It's supposed to give the viewer a sense of the whole feeling I want to convey as well as the types of fabric, color, and garments that will be created.

My style is eclectic, quirky and colorful with details tucked in. While my first senior collection was extremely playful and true to my style, I would like this one to be slightly more serious and formal.

Currently, I have rough sketches from which I will begin to drape my first look relatively soon.  My goal is to create 4 looks this semester. Eek! I hope I make it.

Falling in Fabric

For me, fabric makes the garment.  It controls the design, aesthetic and style.

Fabric shopping is one of my favorite steps in the process.  I love all the different combinations of color, pattern, and texture that can be created.  As in most things, the possibilities are endless.

Posted are some of the fabulous fabrics I found and will be incorporating into my collection, as well as some trims and incredible buttons  that I'm absolutely in  love with.

Inspiration for Collection II

Gustav Klimt has been a favorite artist of mine for quite awhile. He uses rich colors and creates patterns with a mosaic style. He designed his women to be somewhat erotic but in a tasteful and luxurious way. Klimt's use of Byzantine imagery and the gold leaf he incorporated I find to also be inspiring.

As a girl who loves color, pattern, art, and culture, I naturally found Klimt to be a main inspiration for my second senior collection. I have also found the Byzantine era to be fascinating so for this collection I am pulling inspiration from that time as well.

Posted below are some modern images inspired by Klimt's artwork that I particularly liked.
